Anjali’s ‘Seethamma Kashtaalu’.

Posted on Updated on

Back in April there was a huge cry over Anjali who went missing suddenly. After a couple of days of drama, Anjali came out into the public and revealed that she was being harassed by her aunt and a certain director. The director in question is Tamil movie maker Kalanjiyam. Anjali made allegations her aunt and Kalanjiyam were using her like a ‘Human ATM’. Just when the heat was going down, the issue took another turn.
Director Kalanjiyam insists that he is innocent and being unnecessarily drawn into this. To this effect he has filed a defamation suit against heroine Anjali. A simple case such as this has been stretched to unwanted proportions. Anjali has so far ignored all the dates where she was required to appear in court for the hearing of this case. The Saidapet court in Chennai has now, reportedly issued a non-bailable warrant against Anjali.
Anjali now has no choice but to appear in court or face severe consequences. This issue is haunting the clueless leading lady for some time now. We can only hope that Anjali pulls herself out of this mess as soon as possible.

A very happy birthday to Pawan Kalyan || Special Focus

With best wishes

Power star Pawan Kalyan, a name that needs no introduction anywhere in the whole of AP. Born as Konidela Kalyan Babu on this day way back in 1971, Kalyan Babu is the younger brother of actor turned politician Chiranjeevi. Making his film debut with the 1996 film Akkada Ammai Ikkada Abbai, Pawan Kalyan exploded onto the Telugu screen with a resounding bang. His martial arts stunts set off a new frenzy and interest in the youth of the state to pursue martial arts training. An average debut was nothing compared to what followed. Pawan Kalyan established an almost unassailable record delivering six hits back-to-back.
Pawan is adored and near worshipped as a Demigod by his many fans. A true superstar and a very kind person at heart, Pawan Kalyan is a highly popular youth icon. His craze and countless fans stand testament to his character. On the occasion of his birthday, let us take a look at 5 of his best movies.

1.       Tholi Prema

A Karunakaran’s directional debut, Tholi Prema catapulted Pawan Kalyan to super stardom. The peppy and cute love story was the starting point of so many trends in the young urban culture in the state. The songs were a major success and contributed greatly to the success of the movie. The film went on to notch up a national award and six Nandi awards. Pawan Kalyan was now a force to reckon within the industry.

2.       Thammudu

The Tollywood version of Aamir Khan’s hit ‘Jo jeeta woh Sikandar’; Thammudu was another major break in Pawan’s career. This film gave Pawan his loyal fan base which is increasing exponentially even to this day. The story managed to explicitly portray the dreams and aspirations of an average youngster who dreamt big. The songs and Pawan’s character connected immensely with the youth of the state and major audiences even outside the state. Pawan Kalyan had cemented his place in the hearts of the audience.

3.       Badri

A typical Puri Jagannadh flick long before the audience even knew who Puri Jagannadh was. Badri told the story of a Gen-X youngster who falls in love with two girls and has a hard time committing to only one of them. Badri saw some catchy dialogue and powerful scenes between Prakash Raj and Pawan Kalyan. This film also saw Pawan helming technical duties behind the camera for the first time. Pawan himself handled the song and action choreography for the movie.

4.       Kushi

Tamil director, SJ Surya’s most popular romantic flick to date, Kushi introduced brand new trends for the youth of the state to follow. The soul touching music was a major asset for the movie and this movie managed to break all previous box office records. Kushi remained Pawan Kalyan’s biggest film commercially for nearly a decade.

5.       Gabbar Singh

The biggest hit of the Telugu film industry so far, Gabbar Singh ended Pawan Kalyan’s long dry spell and gave him his biggest hit yet. The movie is a remake of the successful Bollywood film, Dabangg. Helmed by director Harish Shankar, Gabbar Singh was a long overdue treat for the fans. This movie finally got Pawan Kalyan his first Filmfare award.
I know what you are all thinking. The omission of Trivikram’s verbal wonder was intentional. ‘Jalsa’ was a special film and remains one of the most popular movies to have been broadcasted on television. A successful audio track also makes it a contender for a spot in the above list. However, ‘Jalsa’ was just a fair hit. It was nowhere close to the scale of hit that Pawan Kalyan is normally accustomed to. But quite frankly, ‘Jalsa’ also deserves mention among Pawan Kalyan’s best movies.

TFI ‘Jumping Japang’ over Catherine

Posted on Updated on

Strikingsoon special focus – TFI ‘Jumping Japang over Catherine’

Catherine Tresa, the name that is making waves in TFI now. The silky beauty from Kottayam is TFI’s latest Mallu import. Catherine spent most part of her life in Dubai with her parents. This is probably the main reason that she cannot fluently converse in Malayalam, she says. Although, she’s quickly learning to speak in Telugu as she feels that she can best voice herself than any dubbing artiste. Catherine’s entry into the glam world was naturally via the modeling world. Catherine has modeled for highly popular and influential brands such as Fast Track, Nalli silks, Jasco Jewelers Chennai Silks and even for Deccan Chronicle. She also boasts of being featured in Maharaja Srikantadatta Wodeyar’s calendar.

These modeling assignments got her an opportunity to act in a Kannada film. She went on to act in a couple of Malayalam Films after that. Catherine’s foray into Malayalam cinema was well noted but frankly, failed to make any sort of real impact. It was her second Kannada project with Kannada superstar Upendra that got her noticed. Catherine’s performance as a mentally challenged person in Upendra’s ‘Godfather’ got her a lot of recognition and offers from the Telugu Film Industry. Her first film in Telugu was Neelkanta’s ‘Chammak Challo’ opposite Varun Sandesh of Happy day’s fame. This movie could not perform at the box office but it got Catherine proper recognition.

Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Iddarammayiltho’ got Catherine widespread recognition almost instantly. Catherine has now fully arrived on the Telugu scene. Her upcoming film with Nani, Krishna Vamsi’s Paisa, will see her portray the role of a reserved and inhibited Muslim girl. The stills for the movie have already gotten gorgeous Catherine all the attention she needs and more. Industry sources also report that Catherine has bagged Koratala Siva’s new project opposite Mega Power Star Ram Charan Teja. Catherine sure is going places bagging the right kind of films very early in her career.

A self-confessed shy and reserved girl, Catherine belongs to a completely academically oriented family, as is the wont with most South Indian families. It was her passion and enthusiasm that brought her close to the glam world. The beauty with the Thunder thighs, Catherine has great hopes for the future. However, TFI has already seen many heroines come, create a buzz and fizzle out just quickly. One can only hope that Catherine will not go the ‘Swetha Basu’ way and choose her projects carefully. Getting a launch pad the way she has is difficult but working with the Mega cousins will be enough for her to bag big projects. We can only wait and watch whether Catherine makes a greater impact on the industry or fizzles out quietly like Meera Jasmine.

Multi-starrers or Family Starrers .. ? – Special Focus

Posted on Updated on

Telugu Film Industry prided itself on the abundant multi-starrers in the days of Superstar Krishna and Sobhan Babu. Having multiple established actors act in a single title meant a great deal of income for the producer. The actors too were sporting enough to act in the same movies with their peers. These were times when no one had unprofessional egos. Actors of this generation are known for their egos. Their main concern has always been to satisfy their fans and the image they portray. Artistic concerns took a hit.

Recently, Milk boy Mahesh Babu and Victory Venkatesh broke away from this current trend when they cast aside their egos, if any, to act in the Blockbuster Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC). This movie boasted of increased openings and greater collections bolstering the industry’s belief in multi-starrers. Thanks to the grand success of this film we now see a series of multi-starrers popping up. These multi-starrers have a quite different ring to it. The multi-starrer movies now will see actors from the same acting family share screen space.

‘Mega Ram Charan’s much anticipated movie ’Yevadu’ will see him share screen space with cousin ‘Stylish star’ Allu Arjun. The audio launch event saw a new series of trailers which seemed to indicate that Allu Arjun will be part of the cast. While the length and purpose of his character are being kept under the wraps, the director does mention that Arjun’s character will be a pivotal character and will be essential to introduce a plot twist. Arjun has already completed shooting for his portions and unit members hint that these parts will be highlights of the film.

It’s not just the mega family, but also the Akkineni family who are bringing their own family multi-starrer. Vikram Kumar of ‘Ishq’ fame is directing a movie that boasts of three generations of the Akkineni family in the star cast. ANR, ‘King’ Nagarjuna and Chaitu will be seen together sharing screen space for the first time in this film. The director comments further that this casting was essential to the script and the Akkineni stalwarts have been gracious enough to consent to this.

‘Dialogue King’ Mohan Babu and family are also not far behind. Currently the Manchu family is also making preparations for a movie that includes the Manchu family stars in the cast. The exact details of this movie are yet to be fully announced. One thing is clear; the producers are going to sing their way to the bank if this trend continues. Having multiple stars in a single movie surely increases the production costs but it increases the revenue proportionally as well. This is a welcome trend that will surely change the face of Telugu cinema and usher in a renewed trend of heroes who are devoid of any egos. No doubt, the audience surely wants to see more and more multi-starrers.

Prabhas- The Daring and Dashing. || Special Focus

Posted on Updated on

Tollywood is updating with new technologies and new generation of heroes day by day. From the time of  late NTR to Chiranjeevi all the heroes tried dual roles as father and sons. In fact NTR appeared in triple roles with son, father and grand father too. SuperStar Krishna stood as a brand for such roles. Coming to the present generation heroes none of them tried such attempt as father role in old look.

Though Jr. NTR tried it twice he failed for his each attempt which came with high expectations. But, he didn’t appeared in old look for which the father role was confined to flashback. Even Maheshbabu tasted failure for this attempt in which he appeared as old father look in Nani for 30 seconds.

Now, its time for Young Rebelstar Prabhas to try this feat. Prabhas is going to play dual role in Baahubali. He is appearing in father and son roles for the magnum opus. His latest macho look with long beard and tuft is for father role. We can see him in such look for few more months. By the time the shooting starts for son role he will soon come up with glamorous look with  six-pack for the movie. No doubt, it is a bold and gold attempt by our hero for such great flick of TFI which implies his daring and dashing nature.

So, Prabhas is going to be Rana‘s brother and father with same flick. The whole story revolves round the brothers who fights for kingdom and for woman who won their hearts with her beauty. As it was said earlier Prabhas is the top hero who is taking the whooping remuneration of 20 Crores for spending valuable 2 years span of his time for Baahubali. Hope our mass hero is going adore the top chair soon with his back to back blockbusters.

Happy Birthday to Tarak || Special Focus.

Intro :

If a poll is to be conducted between different heroes regarding the best in their talents we will find a person who appears to be common in all aspects. Let us have a funny example poll of considering two heroes in each cateogary who is best in various aspects.

  • Dance: Allu Arjun vs Jr.NTR
  • Following: Pawan Kalyan vs Jr.NTR
  • Dialogues: Balakrishna vs Jr.NTR
  • Fights: Prabhas vs Jr.NTR
  • Style/Glamour: Maheshbabu vs Jr.NTR

The above example is sufficient for us to prove that NTR is an actor who has atmost talent of handling all aspects as an actor. To have a brief explanation about him he is an actor, playback singer and accomplished  Kuchipudi dancer. Entering into the industry as the heir of Nandamuri family, he proved himself as the best in every step made by him as an actor.

NTR : Natanalo Tirugu leni Raraju :

Beggining his career as child artist he stood in front of camera at the age of eight for the movie Brahmarishi Viswamitra as Bharatha under the direction of Sr.NTR. In 1997 he did a full length role as the lead character in the movie Bala Ramayanam as Lord Rama.

Finally, he made a simple entry with Ninnu Choodalani and received a remuneration of 6 lakhs as hero. In the same year he raised the expectations of telugu audience over him with a class hit like Student No.1 under the direction of S.S.Rajamouli. In fact Raghavendra Rao supervised the direction department for the movie.

With blockbusters like Aadhi and Simhadri he finally landed as the full length mass hero and sent waves as upcoming star hero to the industry. His movie Andhrwala is one of the craziest movie of 2004 which disappointed the audience due to poor script .

After several flops and averages he finally came up with a slim look and shocked the audience with Yamadonga which made him Young Tiger. He entertained class audience with Adhurs and Brindhavanam and finally gifted a blockbuster of his stamina with Baadshah.

Succcess Mantra :

NTR is always good in selection of his movies. He considers directors and writers who were on full swing with a stable hit in Industry. In fact directors like Rajamouli and V.V.Vinayak prepare stories for him and love to direct him.

Tarak- A Political Power :

On behalf of his dialogue power on screen, Tarak is best in leadership qualities too. His speeches and gestures during the promotional journey of TDP made him real hero which made Telugu people proud of him.

NTR’s Filmography :

  • As Hero: 22
  • Special Appearance: 1 (Chinthakayala Ravi)
  • Voice Over: 1 (Rama Rama Krishna Krishna)
  • Play back Singer: 3 (Yamadonga, Kantri, Adhurs)

Progress Report :

  • Hits: 8
  • Average:  7
  • Flops: 7

PS :
Tarak is going to celebrate his 31st Birthday today (May 20th). Wishing him good luck for his career from Strikingsoon.com team.

Srinu Vytla hero still torturing audience.

Posted on Updated on

Debuting into tollywood with blockbuster movie Aanandham under the direction of Srinu Vytla, Actor Aakash started harassing  audience from his second movie itself. Trying to impress as hero he was making many attempts which were merely failed at box-office.
Changing his attitude he even tried mega phone with bunch of heroines as play boy and weird getups which made him a comedy piece. Meanwhile, keeping all these aside he recently came up with a crap movie titled Mr.Rajesh with 7 different getups publicizing himself as the holder of Guinness World record for doing such characters.
Now this hero started his movie with title Donga Prema with 3 new heroines. The above still belongs to the movie which bring funny laughs on faces. Talent should be encouraged so that innovative movies may come to us. But, portraying them as the ultimate talents and bringing out crap movies is a degradable note to tollywood.
